Speed Matters to the People Using Your Site
A visitor should be able to read your services, tap your phone number, and complete a form without waiting for large videos or animations to load. Start with those tasks when assessing performance.
Google’s Core Web Vitals guidance identifies three measures: Largest Contentful Paint for loading, Interaction to Next Paint for responsiveness, and Cumulative Layout Shift for visual stability. These describe different parts of the experience. A fast initial display can still leave visitors struggling with an unresponsive button or shifting form.
Read a Performance Report Carefully
Ask your developer to show the page tested, the test date, and the device and connection settings. Separate a controlled diagnostic run from measurements gathered from actual visitors. A score from one run does not tell you how all customers experience the website.
When comparing before and after, use the same page and test conditions. Keep screenshots or reports so you can inspect what changed. Judge the contact and booking journey alongside the numbers.
Keep Local Ranking Claims in Perspective
Google describes local results as primarily depending on relevance, distance, and prominence in its Business Profile guidance. That guidance does not establish a rule that a high bounce rate or slow page directly lowers a Maps listing.
Use performance work to help visitors complete their tasks. Assess search visibility separately, and ask for evidence before accepting a promise of more leads or higher rankings.
Review the Customer Journey
On your phone, open an important service page and try to:
- Find the service area and the work the business handles.
- Read a project or client review.
- Tap the phone number or complete the inquiry form.
- Recover from an invalid field without losing your answers.
Record where you hesitate or wait. Those observations give your developer a concrete starting point, alongside performance diagnostics.
